SECURITY & PRIVACY BY DESIGN

Security-Hardened Legal AI for Sensitive Legal Workflows

Legalyze is built with layered safeguards across sensitive-data protection, customer matter isolation, authorization, API access, AI workflows, and transport security. Our security controls are continuously tested and strengthened as the platform evolves.

Implemented Security Controls

Safeguards protecting your matters today

Twelve protections are implemented and verified across encryption, customer isolation, authorization, API access, AI workflows and transport security.

  • Authenticated Encryption. Sensitive legal content covered by our encryption layer is protected using AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption, which also helps detect tampering with covered content.
  • Customer Matter Isolation. Authenticated matter-level ownership controls help prevent unauthorized access to another customer's protected matter data.
  • Database-Level Ownership Controls. Ownership protections are enforced at the database layer for protected matter-linked records, providing an additional layer of customer isolation.
  • Layered Authorization. Sensitive operations use explicit ownership and authorization checks designed to reduce unauthorized cross-customer access and modification.
  • Secure API Authentication. Protected API reads use Authorization Bearer authentication rather than URL-query authentication tokens, reducing the risk of credentials appearing in URLs, browser history, referrer information, or similar locations.
  • AI Abuse Safeguards. Public AI workflows include request-rate controls, request-size safeguards and input-size protections where safely applicable. These controls are designed to reduce automated abuse and oversized requests while preserving intended functionality.
  • Protected AI Error Handling. Protected AI failure paths are designed to avoid unnecessarily exposing raw provider or model responses to users.
  • Untrusted Input Safeguards. Selected AI workflows distinguish untrusted user-supplied data from system instructions to strengthen resistance to instruction-like content embedded within legal data.
  • HTTPS Transport Protection. Information transmitted between users and Legalyze is protected using HTTPS.
  • API Response Security. API responses include additional browser-facing security protections designed to reduce content sniffing, referrer leakage, unauthorized framing and related browser-level risks.
  • Adversarial Security Testing. Customer-isolation and authorization controls have been tested against adversarial cross-customer scenarios, including attempts to access or modify protected matter data belonging to another customer.
  • Continuous Security Hardening. Security is treated as an ongoing engineering process. Legalyze continues reviewing and strengthening safeguards as the platform, AI workflows and threat landscape evolve.
Security by Design

A shift-left approach to security

Rather than treating security as a final step, Legalyze builds it in from the beginning — the same way we approach privacy. Safeguards are considered while a feature is designed and built, then challenged and strengthened over time.

Considered from the start

Access boundaries, encryption coverage and authorization rules are part of how a feature is built, not something bolted on after release.

Tested adversarially

We challenge our own assumptions with adversarial cross-customer security testing, looking specifically for ways one customer's matter could touch another's.

Continuously hardened

Protection is iterative. We continue to review and strengthen safeguards as the platform, AI workflows and the threat landscape evolve.

Trust Summary

BUILT FOR SENSITIVE LEGAL WORKFLOWS

Legal matters can involve confidential contracts, evidence, correspondence, obligations, deadlines, and other sensitive information.

Legalyze uses layered safeguards across data storage, customer matter ownership, authorization, API access, AI workflows, transport security, and abuse protection.

Our approach combines authenticated encryption for covered sensitive legal content, customer matter isolation, database-level ownership controls, secure authentication handling, AI abuse safeguards, protected AI error handling, and ongoing adversarial security testing.

Ongoing Commitment

ONGOING SECURITY

Ongoing Security

Security is an ongoing process. As Legalyze evolves, we continue reviewing and strengthening areas such as key lifecycle management, sensitive-data protection, AI workflow safeguards, infrastructure security, monitoring, recovery, and authorization controls.

What this page does — and does not — claim

Scope of our statements

We describe our security practice in plain terms, and we are careful to describe only protections that are implemented and verified.

  • Our own safeguards and testing. Everything described on this page reflects Legalyze's own implemented safeguards and our internal adversarial cross-customer testing.
  • No external validation implied. No external body has independently validated these protections, and nothing on this page represents an external standard, framework or assurance from another organisation.
  • Security is continuous. No safeguard removes all risk. This page describes our security practice rather than a guarantee, and ongoing work is presented as ongoing.
